LIV Golf Tour: The Next Generation of Golf
A handful of our Members were lucky enough to witness the first LIV Tour in Adelaide⛳️
“The LIV Tour was the greatest golfing experience we have ever witnessed” as quoted by Emajin’s PGA Allan Haughie. The trip was broken up into 3 rounds of golf and 2 days watching LIV. Day one was a perfect day at the Kooyonga Golf Club, the greens were rolling true, the golf was enjoyable on the world class facility.
Day two we watched the 1st round of The LIV Golf event. It was a great day out and the structure of the shotgun start meant we could see all the best players in a 4 hour window, which was certainly adequate time walking around.
Though the real game changer for golf is the attraction of the younger generation, a demographic that has not been seen before on a golf course. Thanks to DJ Fisher bringing in the festival vibes to the golf course. We saw a vast amount of youth coming to the golf course just to see Fisher. The impact of this will change how the youth see golf as a whole and can only benefit the growth in the long run.
Day 3. We all got the opportunity to play at The Royal Adelaide and it was in amazing condition. Our members had a blast, PGA Ben Doney put on a short game master class, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. One of Australia’s best courses, a must play.
Day 4. It was the LIV final day that was the highlight of the tournament. We got to witness the watering hole as the hole in one shot by Chase Koepka.
Everyone was throwing beers, and the energy was lifted, and the atmosphere was electric. The celebration lasted for about 20min before the clean up was finished and play could resume.
American Taylor Gooch felt the pressure in the final round in Adelaide but held on to score his first tournament win on the LIV Tour. The 29-year-old led by 10 shots going into the final day at the Grange Golf Club after setting a new two-round scoring record with a pair of 62s.
Gooch battled on the final day, and his lead was cut in half with the back nine still to play. But he steadied with birdies at the 11th and 13th to post a final round one-over 73, beating a surging Anirban Lahiri by two shots.
The LIV Golf Tour is not just a game; it’s a lifestyle. With its festival-like atmosphere and star-studded line-up, it’s no wonder that it’s attracting a younger generation to the sport. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next LIV Golf Tour.
